The NYC Best Western locations have been running really good sales for multi-day stays. See if any of them are still available for your dates (use the hotel's own website and be sure to check the specials). Or consider staying in Long Island City and hopping on the subway.
All true. Not to mention that mid-week is never going to be the best time to expect discounted rates. Business travel is practically a year-round thing in NYC, so hotels don't have a lot of trouble filling rooms. This week in particular is UN week in NYC, so that's just one of many fall events that tend to jack up room rates.
