The program will be launched at the Dubai Air Show at Al Maktoum this year. I'm thinking the order will in the ball park of 150 779s and around 25 778s. This will probably be complimented by an additional 50-100 options. Don't forget that these frames are coming to EK to replace existing 77Ws and 77Ls which currently make up over 120+ frames as it stands. The options will have the agreed price when ordered, so then EK can later exercise these options to replace the 77Ws currently on order.
It's also why EK will never cancel that A350 order, is because the A350s are intended to replace the 332s/343s/345s currently on property, and also give some flexibility to expand. I'll be really intrigued to see which routes get the A350s first, but I can imagine that they might be utilized to start some further expansion in smaller North American markets.
