Or the required miles for a trip. I once used miles for a domestic flight for a volunteer project after Hurricane Katrina, and I expected to be able to fly for 25,000 miles, as was normal for a domestic flight on NW.

Nope, because our group wasn't staying over a Saturday, I had to pay 60,000 miles. I hated doing so, but because I had more miles than extra money at that point, I gave in.
