SaferTaxi is an app that you can download to your phone that will show you nearby taxis and allow you to book a specific one ahead of time. It also shows you information such as the taxi driver's name, often times a photo, the car type, and their approval rating. Taxibeat is a similar app that you can download. I highly suggest downloading one or both of them to use while you are in the City.
And of course, be sure that the doors remained locked at all times during travel, and if possible request that the driver stay on the busier thoroughfares and not use smaller side streets.
