I agree with what you've said, OP, and can relate to much of it.
On a recent thread, I was slaughtered for suggesting that some of BA's club world customers might not understand different cabins on the aircraft, and reassured that everyone who actually travels in these cabins fully understands them.
But yet what you say is very true and underlines the quality of Virgin's advertising, or perhaps the simplicity of their offering compared to BA's.
