Yeah, I confirmed this with the partner desk when Mrs. DCA-SEA and I were investigating moving abroad. I started building up AA miles and Chase Sapphire points when I learned that my pile of AS miles weren't going to be usable (with a handful of specified exceptions such as CX ex-HKG, KE intra-Asia or AF/KL intra-Europe).
