Out of Denver, it also could be worth a look at an entire United award instead of a separate positioning PNR.

Problem with booking WN is that they do not interline bags to anyone else.
We only have 60k United points between the two of us so that's not really an option right now, plus I'd like to start using some Avios for this award before they change their minds and tack on YQ. We have 200k Avios between the two of us and this award will only knock out 50k of those. If we had the United miles I'd just do that since it's only 60k RT for each of us and it's a quick hop to ORD from DEN, not to mention DEN is a United hub so there are plenty of flights.

Yes, WN doesn't interline bags so we'd have to leave 3-4 hours between connections to make sure we can grab our bags and check them with EI. We have enough points for WN though so we'll be relying on them once they release their schedule for the summer.
