What's wrong with that and how is it anywhere close to walking in the lav barefoot?
I do this, except upon boarding I immediately unwrap the amenity kit, duvet, pillow(s), headset, and slippers (if applicable), and throw all the plastic into the big plastic bag for the pillow(s) and hand it to the FAs when they come by. The FAs tend to appreciate this IME, saying it's better than them having to mince through the cabin throughout the flight finding more and more plastic on the floor.
And I also agree with the sentiment that putting these things into the overhead is a waste of space for fellow passengers. I will only do this once boarding has finished/is nearly finished and there is ample space to do so.
