Round Trip with my Grandpa in Y+ J
Hi,
This year when I was travelling, I thought to myself it would be awesome to take my grandpa on vacation with me as he has only been out of North America once to Switzerland; however, he used to lead an international student program (mainly Chinese students) for numerous years and has always been interested in Asia. The reason I am posting here is that I realize that there is a disparity between our ages (he's in his 80's, very active aware and able, whereas I am 21) and that there may be things that he may find difficult that I would not even think of that I should consider. The trip would have to be sometime between the end of April to the end of August (when I'm out of school) and it probably has to be in Y+ or J so that he doesn't have issues with the long flight. Obviously cost is also an issue as I am a student and am not flush with cash but I should have enough to cover the costs by April. I have around 40,000 Aeroplan, 2,000 Avios and 5,000 AMEX MR and am willing do some credit card churning (I'm in Canada) or some mileage runs if the cost is right.
Any advice on destinations or flight options? I'm ruling out most of mainland China (with the exception of Shanghai) due to the food, smog and hygiene (he's not a very adventurous eater and the smog bothers me) and he likes to be active so a beach destination like Koh Samui would probably bore him. Preferably somewhere where he could see a lot of things in a short time.
Thanks!
