Well, that is kind of an old fashioned scan - with eyes.
An additional thought: with the new "flexible" fare class, same-day changes with no change in fare would be a reasonable extra perk. It would be like SWA's Business Select fare that allows full same-day change flexibility even if the fare has gone up.
It's possible that since the "flexible" fare is already upper bucket that it already provides for same-day changes by default, but specifically putting that capability into the T&C's of the fare would eliminate any issues when trying to make a change.
