Long selling is when the agent basically makes a request to the airline, and the airline replies back with confirmed or denied. Helps in some cases when agents cannot see availability in their systems, but you believe it is really there.

Long selling didn't help in my cases... Tried several routes and probably a dozen dates. The guy sounded like he knew what he was doing. Tried several methods including long selling, and everything still came back unconfirmed.
