We had the Amex Aeroplat.. My wife had it for a year, and I had it for a year.
I think it was worth it at the time before the new Amex Plat came out with the Marco Polo Gold benefit.
Why? Short haul benefit 2 for 1 on point redemptions.. We had 2 of these benefits which we merged together so that our family of 4 can fly down to Vancouver over a long weekend.
Also, depending on the offer you pounce on, you can get an additional 0.25 points on top of the 1.25 points after $25K spend.
The Plat5 promo is included, and SPG Gold IIRC. We accessed Maple Lounges no charge with the card, but I think there's since been a charge for bringing in a spouse.
Most of my travel is in Canada/US.. when we did Europe last year, we flew in Business class, so there was no need to access lounges with the regular plat benefit. Depending on your needs, I thought Aeroplat did us good for the time we've had it. We ran through 150K, so that was lots of bonus points received.
