Aeroplat is worth for:

1) When there is a nice sign up bonus like 50K
2) The 2-1 short-haul is a decent perk..

I alternate between it and the regular plat (between the spouse and I) so that we can always get to a lounge. As long as the sign-up bonuses last, this fits our usage patterns. YMMV.
