Then it's weird also to have the time be 8:45 - 9:15 am. Because, of course, this was 5:45 - 6:15 am west coast (including San Diego) time.

Those of us who woke up on the west coast that day to alarm clock radios which were talking about the attacks already under way would be well aware of that. Which implies that the Marriott employee who came up with that remembrance was probably not on the west coast 12 years ago (or else working a late shift and getting up late as a result).
