There have been various threads about the frustration with BA making the gates a secret unavailable online (requiring huddling around or frequent trips to the airport displays), and the unreliability of their app to show them as promised (my hit rate is 10% at most).

I got some junk mail from Heathrow rewards hyping their app, which I really don't care about. However, the photo shows an enticing "flight details" page which seems to show the gate and the (however inaccurate) status (go to gate, barding, last call, etc.).

I don't like installing apps, so I wonder if anybody knows whether HAL's app is a workable fix for BA's failure in making gate information easily available to us?
