Is that really the case? If you get a special meal you have less chance of an upgrade? I only ask as my partner and i are vegan (we've always found the meals much better) and are travelling WT+ but would rather sit in club and pick my way through the meals
I've heard this loads of times too. Because the meal they load is specific to your class, so if they upgrade you they may not have a meal for you.
Though as the main course of WT+ meals are generally meant to be the same as Club anyway, I don't see how it would cause any problems. You'd have to be rather fussy to complain that your starter and dessert were slightly inferior to Club standards if you had just been given a free upgrade!
