The only thing holding me on the fence is that, with the YYZ-HKG-BKK flight, it pushes me over 50K AQM for the year, and very close to 75K. I have automatic Gold status with CX thanks to my Amex Platinum card, so I'm not sure what to do. I do like the idea of a more comfortable ride and better service with CX....Hmmmm.

Anyone have any opinions on the above?

Thanks!

You could also fly EVA YYZ-TPE-BKK. There is still some J class availability over xmas so you could do one flight on points (without scam charges), the other pay. It also looks to be the cheapest revenue ticket.

Edit: If you payed for your ticket, and booked wife on points, it would contribute towards your status.
