I have an roundtrip upgradeable fare from JFK - LAX. I called five days before my departure (when I booked the flight) and requested an upgrade using miles. They put me on a "list" but the upgrade never went through. I also wasn't put on the complimentary upgrade list (Platinum)! So my flight from JFK - LAX was in the back.

I called yesterday to check in with my return from LAX - JFK. They put me on the "list" again but nothing cleared. I arrived at the airport early so I could straighten this out. The LAX rep told me the phone agent used the wrong code cause there is a special mileage upgrade code for LAX - JFK route. The LAX airport then called me back 30 mins later to tell me I can't upgrade the same day using miles. I explained I called yesterday and I'm on some "list". Basically, he couldn't do anything. He also couldn't understand I was using a mileage upgrade and not a certificate.

SO NOW! I have a expensive (insert cuss word) fare that I could have used 12,500 miles each way to upgrade but NO ONE at DL knows how to do it! Luckily, there is 16 open seats on my left to JFK today and I'll get the complimentary upgrade hopefully but still. I would rather loose 12,500 and know I'm in first for this flight.
