If you're in Chicago and will be flying a lot of LGA, ATL, SLC, MSP, etc. next year, or have sworn off some of the larger operations out of ORD or MDW, it probably makes sense. Silver goes a long way when you're flying against the flow of elites -- there aren't many Medallions in this city.
Otherwise, I'd probably throw those trips to AA or UA and gun for status on one of them. I'm at the point now where I'd rather take an E+ nonstop home vs. connecting on every trip with one leg in Y and the other in domestic F.
Edited to add: when I started typing this reply, your location showed as ORD. It now shows as DTW. Go for FO or higher if you live in a hub city & will be traveling at all next year...
