It won't let me re-enter the number.

Re the booking issue - when you do multi-city, it goes segment by segment. As Delta does not sell DL coded tickets on AF for travel originating in CDG not going to the US, it will not offer you a Delta coded AF flight when booking segment by segment, even though there might be flights that can be booked under a DL flight number as part of a connection. In other words, if you search LAX-PRG you will be offered DL coded flights all the way through on AF metal. But, if you go segment by segment, it will tell you there are no flights from CDG to PRG.

If you do the same thing but via AMS, you will be offered KL coded flights for the AMS-PRG segment.

Can't book AF segments in multi city on delta.dumb effectively means that one can't do USA-CDG stopover CDG-EU destination (served by both AF and DL) then EU-USA with all segments except intraEU operated by DL? Wow! Can DL ticket this by phone? [I did something close on an award ticket this summer. IIRC I did need to phone to book it, although I was initially trying for a KLM intraEU segment followed by a 23 hour connection in AMS and the DL line made it work using AF.]
