PHL isn't exactly an AA hotspot, and trying to find a decent fare there is dicey, dpending on *when* you travel. I just got back, and the difference was AA: $380 vs UA/US: $242. For two of us, the $276 difference paid for the hotel, rental car, and a decent meal. As much as I like to fly American (and detest flying on UA), the math just didn't add up. If the difference had been reasonable, I probably would have paid more to take AA. At least I wouldn't have been stiff and sore from those narrow, cramped seats on UA.
