We are looking into purchasing DFW - PHL tickets over the Christmas/New Year break (leaving on the 25th and returning on the first). I don't think that the tickets would be cheap, but didn't expect AA ($554 for Y) to be twice as much as US/UA ($228 - 270). Even Delta is at least a hundred dollars cheaper.

I went ahead and booked the tickets (but holding the reservation for 24h) yesterday. When I was choosing my seats, the whole planes (MD-80) for both trips were wide open except for a handful of aisles blocked. This prompted me to think that perhaps I was a bit early to purchase the tickets.

Should I wait for another month? What are you guys' takes on this?
