Personally, I would take the stop and look for LH F space once you are t-14 days... That way it's an even exchange on the ticket points wise.

If it is only one seat you should have a pretty good chance getting an award seat on the FRA-IAH LH flight at t-36 hours. If not, you should be able to get FRA-DFW on LH as well.
