I'm booking an award ticket using UA miles from FRA to IAH.

Option A - Direct with old LH Business Class
LH old Business class direct from Frankfurt (FRA) to Houston (IAH) (LH 440 on A380)

For what it's worth, that IAD-IAH leg will open up in business.
I assume you are using points?
Personally, I would take the stop and look for LH F space once you are t-14 days... That way it's an even exchange on the ticket points wise.
