I like to mention the benefits of the annual travelcard. I encounter so many people who aren't aware of the benefits. I was never told myself (and this was before I'd joined FT) but I wondered why it said 'Gold Card' on my travel ticket and Google provided the answer.

For those reading this thread and learned something new: if wanting the discount on HEX you need to use the National Rail (FGW) ticket machines at Paddington and go to a ticket desk at Heathrow. The nice people who run the HEX don't offer discounts on their machines.
I've also got a Gold Card. Never thought of adding it to my profile before today. Two comments:
  1. Gold Card discounts are valid for you and up to three adults and four children travelling with you
  2. The HEX ticket desk at Paddington and the roaming mobile ticket sellers in the arrivals hall at LHR also sell tickets with the discount.
