1: If I want a beach resort there are obviously far better beaches than this in the SE Asian area and with brilliant hotels on them.

2: If I want a beach resort that combines some sort of sightseeing/cultural aspect, this hotel isn't in the right place.

3: If I fancy a brief break in some luxo palazzo with easy access, this isn't it, either.

I can see that it's well up to the usual Aman standards in terms of design etc but they are building in some very weird places - and Amanoi's topography looks as if it's in the same Aegean area as Greece and Turkey.

I don't doubt that Aman's core Asian clientele will flock there but us Europeans? I doubt it. But Europe doesn't count much anymore, does it? It's the Olde Worlde.
I agree. Amanoi won't work for everyone, for me though it was pretty perfect. Hopefully, people will read the details and not just my opinions so they can figure it out if it works for them.

For me the reasons it works:

I'm looking for a beach resort that's easy to get too and usable September to May.

I like beautiful accommodations, friendly service and good food.

For me a good beach is not just perfect sand and clean warm water. ...beautiful scenery is also important.

I like the feel of being out in nature. Having a lot of jet skis and tons of people even if they're further down the beach is not very appealing.

For me culture is about the people and how they live. I learned more about Vietnamese culture talking to the staff at Amanoi than I ever would walking around Hue or Hoi An.
