Yuck, just noticed that these will be on 50 seat regional jets. I assume that means E146 or CR2.
Yeah, SCE is an expensive destination --- and heaven forbid you try to fly in on a football weekend, the rates are astronomical.
That said, this will be good for people trying to fly to SCE from points west (and vice versa). Right now, DL has a bit of a "monopoly" on that market with their DTW-SCE service.
PHL and IAD are "do-able" connection spots for people going from SCE to the west, of course, it's just more indirect. Way back in the day, there used to be 2 flights from SCE west (NW to DTW and DL to CVG).
The CRJ2s aren't ideal, but it's the "right-sized" jet for this type of routing and of course it's better than nothing.
