A couple of years ago my wife & I were in BE on JFK - TLV and the IFE wouldn't work & there were no seats to change to. The purser gave us 15k miles each through a hand-held device. After we landed I emailed CS and said 30k each would be fairer comp for no IFE on an 11 hour flight, and we each got another 15k miles, and we were flying on award tickets.
