The captain comes on the p/a and announces that the tow-bar broke and the sound we heard was the broken tow-bar hitting the ground and it would be a few minutes for a new tow-bar could be reattached.

So with that, my question is where the tow-bar is connected to the nose gear, would that/does that/should that require the Captain to go out and visually inspect the nose gear for any potential damage or do they rely on the ground person to report any damage?

*and I mean REALLY loud to the point that many of the pax in F (myself included) started looking around because the loud bang
Kind of hard for us to go out and look when the jet is buttoned up and we're pushing back. For a tow bar problem, they usually have maintenance come over and make sure everything is fine. Just depends on if it broke or just fell off.
