Yesterday (9/7), right after the "little nudge" at the start of pushback, there was a loud* bang and we stop the pushback. The captain comes on the p/a and announces that the tow-bar broke and the sound we heard was the broken tow-bar hitting the ground and it would be a few minutes for a new tow-bar could be reattached.

So with that, my question is where the tow-bar is connected to the nose gear, would that/does that/should that require the Captain to go out and visually inspect the nose gear for any potential damage or do they rely on the ground person to report any damage?

*and I mean REALLY loud to the point that many of the pax in F (myself included) started looking around because the loud bang
