Thanks for all the replies I understand better now. What I need to remember is to sort the results by price, because if not filtered all of the LAX and MIA connections are on page one and the DFW and ORD ones are not found until page two. I assume that is due simply to the fact that the DFW and ORD connections don't depart JFK until the afternoon so the default search return is chronological order which sends you to either MIA or LAX if you want to leave in the morning from JFK on anything other than the non-stops.
