The history of HK/MK - Portland St was the old Kowloon "port land". It was the old waterfront where loading and unloading of maritime freight occurred just like Connaught Rd W in Shueng/Sai Wan.

In many cities with British roots with a port you will find a Portland St. In Toronto there is a Portland St where the old port circa 1800's was.
