I arrived early in the morning so the immigration lines weren't that long. I took the advice of picking the shortest towards the right but that backfired as when I got to the customs agent, the guy wasn't in a mood to do the registration so he punted me to the far left line and so I ended up basically last in the longest line.
Next time you get punted to another line, just go to the front of that line and then just let anyone who gives you a dirty look know that this is where you were sent. It is a gray area in terms of if it is "kosher" (to use an expression not generally heard in Saudi), but I have never had a problem doing it and I'm pretty well-mannered.
