AA's may be able to be booked on-line and I don't think it necessarily has to be the absolute Last flight in. Looking at a Y award SAN-MCO on 1/9/14, the AS web site offers the choice of two AA segments, SAN-DFW, arriving DFW at 8:10 pm and 9:50 pm, connecting the next morning to an AA DFW-MCO flight at 6:00 am.
