Noting the other points in your strategy, I thought premium cabin customers on either QF or EK metal can freely choose between any of the QF or EK lounges available? If so, the respective quality of each airlines lounge is an irrelevance in selecting the carrier (as you can go into the lounge of your choice anyway.) Certainly, this is the case for QF WP and the EK equivalent in terms of lounge access.
