I.E.: let US Air know beforehand - you should get a voucher for the unused value of the round trip (which may or may not end up doing you any good since change fee will be charged for using the voucher). Definitely don't just not show up for the CLT-NYC segment(s) since that would result in the NYC-CLT segment(s) on Sunday being cancelled.
