Question regarding a day trip as part of a US TP trip planned for December.

I have come across a day trip from TPA to IAD for £420 and 240 TPs so OK. Problem is the routing is
TPA-MIA AA2201
MIA-IAD AA148
IAD-MIA AA148
MIA-TPA AA274

Just want to check if the flight to and from IAD only count as one flight?

Found a nice price for TPA in J/F from AMS through AA and via MIA for around £1400 each and 480 TP. Couldn't make it work through ba.com

Also will be flying TPA-MIA-LAX in F for 540 TPs (£850)
