What are customers interested in MP status supposed to do? Beyond altering their schedules and destinations so they're more convenient for United?
This is something I brought up when the PQD requirement was announced. It seems counterproductive for PQD and ATI/Alliances to co-exist (from an earning perspective, mileage redemption is different).
It is bad enough that we already have fare class restrictions on EQM earnings for alliance partners but now you can fly alliance partners all you want but if you don't generate UA (or DL) enough money you can forget elite status.
