Some folks here have had awful experiences at the IAD Marriott. I'm not one of them--I actually place it among my top tier of favorite properties chain-wide. I have found the staff uniformly cheerful, professional, and competent. The place was nicely renovated just a couple of years ago. The concierge lounge puts out meal-quality food at both breakfast and dinner. And the lobby bar/restaurant area is hip and hopping, with a nice menu and reasonable prices.

I only stayed at the Suites a couple of times, years ago, because my experiences there were very average. Once I found out how much I liked the on-airport hotel, it's become my go-to choice when in the area.
