My Hawaii Safeway card acquired to avoid the idiotic markup of cheap wine works everywhere. I just made up an address in Hilo. We don't have Safeway where I live, but the card is in my travel rotation of necessary items when I leave SoCal.

On topic, in counties foreign to me supermarkets are my favorite tourist thing. Hardware stores also. I no longer buy souvenirs, but still enjoy my #14 cowbell from a small-town hardware store in Switzerland. (Yes, it clanged in my luggage on trains, buses and planes for the next few weeks until I thought to stuff a sock in it, but it was real, not from a tourist shop.)
