Apologies if this has been asked before but when I do a search I either get every post ever on FT or nothing at all.

I am off to the Abu Dhabi GP again this year and again flying in and out of DXB using a 241.

Last year managed to bag 2 F's (Old F's, but beggars can't be choosers)

This year left it a bit late and have only bagged WT+ using the 241.

I am checking every day to see if they release some F's.

However, if they don't, but we get to the airport and allow an upgrade to F using Avios, will it still be part of the 241 and therefore I only use one lot of miles, or would I have to pay for the upgrade to both flights, effectively not benefitting from the 241 for the upgrade?
