The time to fix this was at the time of the rebook. Technically the agent was correct, OP changed his itinerary.

But, this was really an IRROPS reroute in which I presume that OP was headed to someplace between GEG and MSO.

OP is a 1MM EXP on AA, so getting the details correct with a CSR isn't new stuff.
