I saw some reviews on TA regarding the renovation of Hilton KL recently so I decided to visit after the renovations are fully completed. For Hilton KL, you can utilise the PR corporate discount rate. Do you use that rate for bookings? Do they do checking of any sort? The prices are really low after discount.

The renovation is just for the reception area and the Sudu restaurant if I remember correctly. It's been a few months since I stayed at the Hilton KL. The restaurant where they usually served breakfast has been closed for months... last I heard it's still closed for renovation. They relocated the breakfast area to an open space in the hotel lobby.
Even though it's been opened for some years now, the hotel doesn't look old in my opinion - still one of the best Hilton I've ever stayed at.
For my birthday this year, in January, they upgraded my room to a wonderful suite with an open terrace and outdoor jacuzzi/whirlpool... being a diamond + regular + friend of a friend of a senior manager
+ having talked to the owner of the hotel, really helped me get a great upgrade. The suite cost RM 2000 but I only paid RM 300 (tax inclusive) - the FD agent who checked me in, was SERIOUSLY confused. They even sent a good bottle of wine and some fruits served on a plate (and not to forget the cake) to my room later in the day.
Guess I deviated too much in a DTKL thread though. LOL!
