Aside from what was previously stated (inter island upgrades, free AVID, Two F class mainland upgrade certs to be used 2-3 days prior to departure) the status does not bestow the level that you may have grown to expect from U.S. based airlines. Sadly Platinum members are still charged for exit rows even though they get the same side benefits (priority boarding, headsets) already. As stated above...you won't find yourself in F class without the cert or paying up for it. You will however be treated by seeing employees and their family being upgraded to F in droves from the standby list. All of the above forced me over the years to redirect the majority of my mainland travel to UA. HA does have a good product for the occasional vacation traveler to the islands but it's not a mainland carrier to go out of your way to be loyal as they aren't loyal back to mainland business travelers the way others are. Interisland they have the only on time viable product as GO airlines is constantly delayed. Missing a meeting due to a flight delay interisland is weak...and why i stick with HA inter island.
Hnlhulagirl is right...the lounges are more akin to a high school hangout....dated and dirty. Coffee, and inflight juice and soft drinks are the main selection here. You can have all the in flight snack mix you want though;-) Well, i take that back...in HNL you can but try finding a well stocked lounge inter island
. Hope this helps.
