How long ago did you do that MR? It has been several years since I have seen "bonuses" like that, especially the double EQM.

To understand the "why" of MRs, the OP needs to appreciate that as others have already noted for most it is primarily about attaining elite status, and secondarily, if at all about RDM. And if the RDM is to be meaningful, then it should be redeemed for biz or first class travel to get value of several cents or more for that RDM.
