I see the value in both. I ended up buying an international band HTC ChaCha for international use when I was still on a BB9930 and didn't want to deal with finding a prepaid sim that supported BIS. Still the most functional Android phone I've ever used (if only it had more memory). Since then I've just given into spending $25 with VZW for their international data plan when I travel.
