If you know you are missing the flight, I would try first with the ticketing counter... and if they refuse to do anything go ahead and go through to the gate and see if anyone will help you.

Just like when you don't like the answer when you call (you hang up and call again), if you don't like the answer the counter agent gives you, thank them and go to the gate...
