It seems like many of the new flights started from SFO are catered to Asia connections from people originating elsewhere. If you originate in SFO and want a direct flight on a 1x daily frequency (such as DCA), prepare to arrive at a late hour.
Well, SFO is a primary hub to Asia. So, I would expect to have the flights timed to connect to the Asian flights. Plus, the Asia connections are where the real money is.
If you are saying that the flights are not timed well for the SFO business traveler, you may well be right.
