I am surprised that you would connect to the last flight of the day. Where is your final destination? I would lean toward CLT as it is usually an easier connection. The LHR flight arrives into CLT before most other international flights so it will be quick to clear.

If you happen to have Global Entry then you would clear in a matter of minutes at either airport.
