Ahh, yes. I remember what happened to my wife one (on BA) in Hamburg. 7:10am departure to London. London fogged in. Flight got canceled. People then got told they had to down stairs from the gate, I am not sure if onto the apron or an area below the gate, to pickup their luggage. There were only stairs and my wife with a large, heavy suitcase coming back from shopping trip, asks "And I am supposed to carry that back up?"

Reply from a female BA agent: "What? Are you expecting me to carry it up? I am a woman!".

My wife ended up getting later to LHR, got rerouted onto VS into Vancouver (if I remember right) with a connecting flight to SFO from there. Arrived like 8 hours later. And she had issues somewhere along the line that initial they wouldn't let her board either due to some paperwork not being right.
