Happy Friday everyone,
Just a note that the UA Fare Evaluator script has been updated to version 2.4, with a few nice enhancements in this version.
- Visible on-page warning when a segment is a UA Codeshare with a fare class that does not appear in the MileagePlus earning tables.

- Updated earning tables for the September 1, 2013 Lufthansa earning changes.
- Fixed Amtrak partner earning rates. Should now be correct for ZFV departures and other Amtrak segments sold on UA.com, but will still display the codeshare warning to alert the user.
We're looking for feedback from the community on that first feature above, as when UA advertises a non-existent fare class for a partner (such as class K for Lufthansa), the proper behavior isn't really clear...
If we assume the "worst" earning rate for that cabin & carrier, it's possible that we'll report zero earning for that segment, which is unlikely on a UA codeshare.
However, if we report full UA-equivalent earnings for the advertised fare class, we may falsely assume Premier and class-of-service bonuses that don't exist for that carrier, and OVER-report the earning.
For now, we've chosen to do the latter, because UA doesn't seem to sell the lowest deep-discount fare buckets on codeshares, and Y/B high-fare classes are pretty much consistent across *A, so taking this middle-road seems to be the least risky. We're reporting UA-equivalent earnings, and we display the mouse-over
[??] indicator (shown above), that provides more information to the user about what's happening if they hover over it. Since there really is no good solution here, without knowing which bucket those UA fare codes will map into on the partner carrier, we'll welcome any input as to a different approach...
Have a great holiday weekend everyone, and happy searching!
